>> People really DO win on WFMU!

Hey, so one of my logos won the WFMU logo contest! It is an honor and I’m happy to contribute to a radio station I listen to frequently. Click here to see WFMU’s contest wrap-up and here to see the new logo implemented on their homepage. They told me “looks slightly off-beat and hand-made just like WFMU!” Let’s hear it for the power of the Sharpie! (And for old xeroxes of 1920’s type specimens.)

In other recent HGN news, I’ve been helping my old pal Jacob Perlin with his new company called The Film Desk. Visit the Film Desk website we did here. We’ve done two posters so far, and they came out nice. (And both of them are available for sale, I’m just sayin’...) The L Magazine just had Film Desk listed first among the “Four Best Things About NYC Cinephilia That Were Not Here Last Year.” Way to go, Jake. The next FD release happens in November and we’re looking forward to that.

I helped the Center for Urban Pedagogy with their summer fundraiser stuff, including a nice tote bag. Cheers to CUP, (who are now on their way to the Venice Biennale!) and thanks to Crown Prints for doing a bang-up job with the screenprinting.

a few more shout-outs:

- Big up to Negin and her documentary film Nerdcore Rising, currently nerdstorming it’s way across America. I helped Negin with a whole bunch of various layouts & packages, cd’s, dvd’s, posters, t-shirts, etc...

- Viking Tony, where you at? We’re all excited for Severed Ways. Call me back, dude! We are getting our Viking spoons ready. You can see a small version of the poster we did on the myspace page, but I hope to add a whole Severed Ways section to the portfolio section soon, there’s lots of cool stuff to look at.

- Get a load of my amazing brother-in-law Tim and his motorized, joystick-controlled canoe. And yes, that’s a wii controller he’s using there.

- Let me just say hey to my number-one nephew and show him off a little. Cute, right?

In music news, we’re nearly done mastering The Cobretti LP. It sounds unbelievably killer and there will be more updates and details on that soon. 12-inch vinyl is gonna be happening.

I recorded the excellent Ribs back in May, and the recordings have been lovingly manicured and are now ready for listening and download over on the Power Page. Download them all today. We tracked it on this baby and it sounds grrrrrreat. Also available over in PowerWorld is the long-awaited follow-up release from Harbor Lights. This time it was recorded in Chicago with a lot of help from our friends. Thanks, dudes!

And, finally, I’m starting this in the Fall. Thank you to everybody who made this possible. Wish me luck.
